When It Rains It Pours
Saturday I had my hair done by a new hairdresser she fried my hair it is like straw I cant put a brush or comb threw it because my hair breaks off.
I cried all weekend and thought nothing could distract me from this but then I went to the doctor to get my lab work results and now I know my hair will grow back but my Cholesterol is a different story.
My bad Cholesterol is really high and my good cholesterol is really low and my Dad died when I was 25 yrs old and my Mothers heart gave out on her at age 59 I took care of her the last year of her life and when they told me today this is genetics reality hit home. They are putting me on Zocor 10 mg I asked what the side effects could be and was told nausea, vomiting and liver damage so if anyone knows of a medicine for bad cholesterol that doesn't have scarry side effects please leave a comment all advice is appreciated.
I'm going to be on cholesterol medicine and they will be checking my liver every 3 months as sometimes the cholesterol medicine is hard on the liver also they are running test something to do with my kidneys.
My youngest is 3 yrs old and I will be 57 when she is 18 yrs old the question is will I be able to prevent happening to me what happened to my Moms Dad, and my parents?

hubby started that last year and has had no problems with it. sometimes it's just in your genes. Keep up your goals of eating right and working out and you just never know! So sorry about the hair! deep condition!
Oh, Darcy. I'm so sorry. Unfortunately, I don't know about the cholesterol medicine. Hopefully someone else knows something. Sending lots of prayers and hugs your way.
Darcy! I'm so sorry about your HAIR! My next Observational Twitter is about this very thing. But more than that I hope you are able to manage your cholesterol without all these damaging drugs.
PLEASE check out a site called Mercola.com and search his site for Zocor alternatives or try cholesterol drugs. He usually has very good, sound advice and he is an extraordinary physician. Diet and exercise are key as is cutting out margarine and any artificial, hyrdogenated, and trans fat containing foods, high fructose corn syrup, GMO foods. It's more important than EVER that you eat REAL food. Check him out. Prayers are with you.
Diet and exercise - no kidding, it's the best remedy. So sorry to hear you've had a bad hair experience. I had mine permed last week and have an appt to have it trimmed this thursday...jury's still out on whether I like it or not but it's a change anyway. Take care and don't be freakin out about the cholesterol thing. Take care of yourself and it will take care of itself too.
So sorry about your hair.
I was taking Zocor but 3 months ago the doctor changed it to Crestor. And he has me taking Omega 3 (fish oil)! We'll see how that does. I hope your numbers improve.
Sorry to hear about your bad days Darcy. Maybe it's an excuse to knit some cute hats and head bands? I wish you luck with the cholesterol battle. Keep eating healthy!
Darcy, so sorry to hear about everything that has happened to you.
Try deep conditioning and hot oil treatments for your hair.
As for the cholesterol meds, many people take them without side effects. Just remember to keep getting your blood checked.
sending you hugs :)

My husband has totally reversed both the good and the bad cholesterol by taking Slo Niacin 500 mg at the direction of his Dr because he already has some small amount of liver damage. Slo Niacin is bought over the counter and is basically a dietary supplement that has the side effect of lowering cholesterol. Our SIL has been on Zocor for three years and is now changing to Slo Niacin.
So sorry to hear about all of this. Keep on deep conditioning your hair and get frequent trims of just a quarter inch or so. And hopefully the weather will cool down for you soon and you can get out and start walking, diet and exercise will help control your cholesterol. It runs high in my family too and my sister was able to lower and control hers through a work out and smart eating program. Good luck and keep your chin up.
I am a vegetarian, exercise daily, do all the right things and have high cholesterol. Mine is definitely hereditary. For me the good news is that I have high good and bad cholesterol and the ratio is good.
My cardiologist recommended fish oil pills several times a day which I have been taking (even though I'm a vegetarian and don't eat fish or seafood). It has helped a bit.
My husband is a pharmacist (PharmD.) He says this is a very low dose. Be sure to get your liver checked as directed by the doctor, but don't panic. (He sees doses as high as 40mg.) He also lost 150 pounds years ago, so he also encouraged you to continue to eat right and exercise. As a vegan I have to put in a plug for reducing your meat/dairy intake...even if it's just one night a week (Meatless Mondays?) Anyhoo....I'm so sorry about your hair, your worries over your cholesterol and everything. We are here for you!
My husband has successfully managed high cholesterol by taking niacin. I take it also, but haven't been taking it long enough to see if it works for me.
However - my doctor recommends using red rice yeast and coenzyme Q10. The Yeast acts the same as the statins, which often cause leg pains. The coenzyme puts back the chemicals that the statin-like drugs leach away, and helps with the cramps.
(my sympathies over the cholesterol and your poor hair!)
I know a lot of people get off medicine for cholesterol by taking fish oil tablets.
Sorry about your hair the wig looks good.
I would love to learn how to knit just one pair of socks i come by your blog for insperation.
