Where In The World Is Darcy?

I'm sure you all have noticed that I haven't been blogging of late.
Hubby let me drive home to Idaho to visit my Oldest kids and my grandson and friends.
I arrived in Twin Falls june 21st and stayed with my Aunt and Uncle for a couple of days.
My Aunt showed me some beautiful hand knit treasures passed down through her family from her great grandmother.
Julie was sweet and let me take pictures of the blanket and pillow cases to show you all.
Over the next several weeks I will be posting about my trip.
I will be driving home July 2nd.Hugs Darcy

~*KaratStix Giveaway*~

Karen Snyders started “KaratStix” in the spring of 2007 with a plan to make tools for knitters and other fiber artists from earth friendly bamboo.
She came up with the name KaratStix as it pulls together many meanings: 1) KARen And Tom STIXrud – Tom Stixrud is Karen’s brother and has been a major supporter/helper/laser machine operator and much more, to help KaratStix become a viable operation 2) Karat = gold and Stix = bamboo and 3) KaratStix sounds like “carrot sticks” and it was Karen’s pursuit of a healthier lifestyle by becoming a “vegan raw foodist” that she believes opened up the possibility of realizing her dream to becoming an artisan.

The designs are all drawn and laid out/configured on a computer in Karen’s studio which is in her home.
She then emails the finished files to her brother Tom who will laser (sort of like sending a print job to a printer only this is a laser and bamboo is the paper) the order onto the bamboo and he’ll give each piece a sanding with a mouse sander to prepare it for the next step.
Karen then picks up (or Tom drops off) the pieces for the order(s) and then colors them with colored pencils if it is a design with color.
After the coloring is done, the pieces are then varnished with a few coats of polyurethane and once that is thoroughly dry, the pieces are sanded and buffed by hand.
She then attaches the hardware if required and the order is then finished. Karen enjoys all of the work, but most of all, the coloring when she can see the finished order finally come together as she imagined it.

Karen is most of all passionate about her customers/friends – she sends a warm thank you for each and every one who has shared so many wonderful stories and become a part of what makes KaratStix not just about an artist creating tools, but about making it possible for knitters to express themselves – as their creativity and their passions are so often the inspiration for the art.You can see more of her work on her flickr here. You can also purchase her tools at yarny-goodness,and Scout's Swag.

I Knit This One In The Elf-A-Long

I Knit This One For A Wee Sock Swap

I Knit This One For Meg

I started knitting this pattern when I joined the wee tiny sock swap group on ravelry.
The pattern was originally written for magic loop, but has been successfully knit on double point needles by me and others in the elf-a-long on ravelry.
Meg incorporated the notes for dpn's into the pattern and then I test knit it.
There are tips in the elf-a-long thread, in case people want to have a look.
If you have trouble joining the points click on this link Look at post #95 for help from Meg.If you are not a member of ravelry and want the pattern leave a comment with your email and I will give it to Meg or
If you click the link for "Download PDF" in the sidebar of Megs Blog, you can get the elf pattern even if you aren't on Ravelry...Ravelry set it up so that anyone can download it from the link, even though the PDF is hosted by Ravelry. So nice of them.

~*Yarn Demon Summer Giveaway*~

The Winner is: Jennifer/vitalai Congratulations:)

This is what Anita had to say:
I am a graphic artist by day and a crafter by night.
I love to knit and crochet.
I love all the books, patterns, and gadgets that go along with it! Like most knitters and crocheters I have quite a stash of all things related to the crafts.
I started making clay stitch markers to use and amuse myself.
Then I started sharing them with friends, one thing led to another.... and here I am with a little store on etsy!

I specialize in cute, whimsical, polymer clay stitch markers. They were featured in the Winter 2007/2008 issue of Knit Simple magazine. However, I also dabble in beaded stitch markers and other little knit-knacks.
Hugs, Anita

You are viewing one set of 4 silly LOBSTERS knitting or crochet stitch markers.

I personally made these by hand, with no molds.
These stitch markers are made from polymer clay, baked for hardness & durability with a glaze applied.
A one of a kind item, they look similar but no two are exactly alike!
The lobsters are approx. 3/4" tall. This set fits up to a size 10 US knitting needle (6.5 mm).
They come hooked on a 2 inch kilt pin which can be used as a stitch holder!

Attach them to your knitting bag so you always have them available, or use as a cute decoration to any item. They would make a great gift for a knitter you know! The pictures just don't do them justice, even cuter in person!
There will be 1 winner and 3 ways to enter
Rules:
1.Go Check out Anita's shop then come back here and leave a comment saying what you liked.

2.Blog about this giveaway and link to it and come back and leave a comment saying you did.

3.If someone leaves a comment saying they came from your blog link to the giveaway your name gets entered again.
