I can tell you I have only been coming to visit you since I found you in the swap. When I went through all the swappers and came to matching my buddy Anne, up with I wanted to match her up with someone that seemed like alot of fun. I visited blogs and looked through them all and you I would give to many of my friends.
What keeps me coming back I like to find the new things people make or buy to enhance their world of yarn and I like when you can go through the blog and get a feel of what a person is like and their personality shows through.
I will link you tomorrow, todays post will be about the box Max for DOT.

Darcy--Great idea for a contest, sweet prizes too ;) I keep going back to read a blog for a lot of reasons, its funny or thought provoking and especially when I like the knitting they do! The Yarnharlot is one of my faves, she's always funny, and Things Soo Likes has some amazing knit items. And of course yours because I know you! Good luck with your contest. Sandra Singh

Hi Darcy,

I keep coming back to your blog because of two things. One I know you, LOL and two because you always have something funny, interesting or bizarre to say and beautiful pictures to match. Not to mention all the swaps you are in and it's like having christmas all year long when you post about them. hugssssssssss

I heard there was a contest... Congratulations, Darcy, on your 200th post!

Congrats on 200!

I always come back to see what's going on in the World of Darcy and to read about knotty knitting!! ;-)

What keeps me coming back to a blog is when I feel like I "know" the person--I get to hear more about them than just their knitting.

I read about this contest on Darcy's blog...No wait a sec....giggle. I love reading about your life as a military wife with two young kids. My parents were married 17 years and moved 18 times. My brother and I are 17 months apart in age. Your blog reminds me of my childhood.

Bubblesknits said...

What keeps me coming back is frequent posting. I love reading blogs! :-) Happy 200th!

AllyB sent me, btw.

Happy Blogiversary, Happy Blogiversay!
I am a repeat blog person if the person posts often and if they're my friends. Love getting to know someone through their blogs.
I'll post about your contest either tomorrow or the next day.
hugs

Happy 200! I saw your link on our 9-5 Rav group. What keeps me coming back to a blog is one that posts about their yarn and knitting (or crochet) projects, especially if we like the same kind, they share some of their daily life and family, and their personality shine through. Some bloggers are great at linking other's blogs and contests, that's a reason to come back too.

Myrthestiek said...

Congrats with your 200th! I like to read about you, your knitting and your family. So I come read almost every day on your blog. You're just such a sweet person *hug*.

I will post your drawing later this day on my blog.

Love Tessa

there are a number of reasons that makes me revisit.
beautiful photography, intelligent and fun text, and i always visit whoever visits me. i am very envious with people who can actually take great pictures of their knitting.

Jennifer said...

I've just come here from the Ravelry Knotty Knits group, actually. What keeps me coming back to a blog is: humor, sincerity, intelligence...and regular posts! I always get a little sad when people don't update in a while.

Adding you to my Bloglines right now. :)

great prices:)

Lizzies Yarn is always great. I had a surprise in the mailbox today from her :)

Erin said...

Congratulations on 200 posts! And thanks for the contest--the prizes are beautiful!

I come back to blogs for various reasons--inspiring designs/alterations to patterns, humor, the feeling that I'd be friends with a person in real life.

Oddly enough, I don't think I would read my own blog consistently.

wenat said...

I come back to knitblogs when the projects are interesting, the photos are good, and the writing is witty or intriguing. Oh, and yarn p*rn, of course. Thanks for the contest!

SissySees said...

I posted about this on my blog. In general, I come back to blogs when I feel I've connected with the person. Other things that keep me coming back are regular posts, assorted topics, and photos. I love photos. I also have this need to be entertained. If a blogger has a distinct "voice" or style of writing, that draws me in too.

Elaine said...

I come back to blogs if they have photos of their knitting and they blog relatively frequently about things I'm interested in (usually knitting and yarn-related).

I will post your contest (which has absolutely great prizes) on my blog either later today or over the weekend (I'm supposed to be working now, afterall)

Kristen said...

For me, I like a blog that has a lot of pictures of projects, pets, cool stuff to go along with the narrative. And if it's funny then I'm hooked! And I like feeling like I'm getting to know a person through their blog. Obviously you can't post TOO much personal stuff, but hearing about things in their lives, books and movies that they loved/hated, cool places they've visited etc is really interesting.
And I have to say your prizes are so wonderful! I hope I win!

Elaine said...

OK - I couldn't wait. I posted it. Ooh I'm evil.

Anonymous said...

I'm Elaine's co-worker and came to get her to come to lunch, saw her post and so I'm entering too (so elaine-knitting sent me)

I love knitting blogs and pretty much they are the only ones I check out with any regularity. As my name indicates, I can't manage to blog at all but I do love looking at people's WIP and yarn finds. I like blogs that make me smile too. I have enough stress.

Congrats on managing 200 posts - absolutely amazing to me.

And I don't know whether or not this will count as another entry, but I will tell others in our knitting group and tell them to say I sent them.

Anonymous said...

I come back to a blog when I feel like I have something in comment with the blogger - we like making the same things, our kids are the same age, we both love dogs - whatever. When I have nothing in common with the blogger - if they post beautiful pictures I will visit. I will also go once or twice if they have left a comment for me. Not sure that was helpful for you

As an aside, I tend not to comment when moderation is on, even though I will read. I feel like like I'm being censured - that's just me. I'm sure you're not making sure my comment is acceptable before deciding to post it. Plus, I try to treat somebody's blog the same way I would treat them if I was in their living room (I am really), but I know not everyone is that aware and/or considerate.

Followed Chan to visit you today - although I would have made it eventually :o) g

I love funny blogs. People with good senses of humor (or rather ones that are like mine) Being part of a knitting group, I also visit knitter's blogs and KALs. I have lurked around your blog but never posted because ... well I'm like that.

Happy Blogiversary - great prizes (that I'd LOVE to win).

Blogless in NJ told me about your contest and I will try to spread the word too. I also don't blog but I do talk a lot. :-)

Scrabblequeen said...

Hi and congrats on your 200th post. Channon sent me over. I read blogs with great pictures, funny or interesting writing, and owners with whom I make some connection. Your prizes are all lovely...even if I don't win, I'll be back.

I come back because of pictures. I love that you blog with pictures. Lots of pictures. not to forget you have good content.

knitmomma said...

Wow, how fun! I just found your blog, and am enjoying reading. What brings me back are a sense of humor, a touch of who the person is (real life - what are they doing, thinking, etc.) and when I can learn something, whether that is recipes, knitting or crochet tips, patterns for knit or crochet, cute pictures, gardening...

Kitten With a Whiplash said...

Contests are often the first reason I visit a blog. Sometimes after reading a post, I'll read all the comments amd link back to some of the the commenters' blogs. What brings me back is usually a mix of humor, interesting stories, knitting and nice pics, expecially pet pics, much of which I fear is missing from my own blog. Today I came here from WiKnit's Contest Blog, but I've been here before.

Unknown said...

What keeps me coming back is something that inspires me. This can be pictures of something knit that gives me an idea of something that I want to knit, or someone who is doing something really interesting - volunteering, etc, or sometime courage through difficult times.

And I found out from Jersey Jessie who does indeed talk a lot :-).

I'll try to tell people too - I'll let my sister know about your contest and blog.

Thanks for a fun contest, by the way and congrats on 200!

I cruised over from Darcy's blog.

I come back to a blog when the blogger is funny, or blogs about a topic that interests me, or blogs about everyday life in a humorous way.

Wool Enough said...

Hi! Congratulations on your 200th post. BTW I am coming from the Knotty Knits Group on Ravelry.

As a technogeek what keeps me coming back to a blog is lots and lots of knitting detail. I want to know everything -- why you chose the pattern, the yarn, what other yarns you considered, what mistakes you made, how you fixed them, what you would do different the next time, etc. etc. Pictures are good too, especially closeups of the critical areas.

Unknown said...

I often stop by to see what Darcy is up to on her blog because Darcy and I are buddies!

Yeah for Darcy!

The meatballs won't make it into the freezer (They're almost gone..... they were THAT good...!), but the meat sauce did, 9 meals worth, which will be FANTASTIC after Mackenzie is born (hopefully he comes soon!).

I've never been to your blog before, but I can tell you what keeps me going back to a knitter's blog in general is pictures of what they are knitting, and regular blogging. I don't really go to blogs who don't really blog on a regular basis :) Happy 200th post!

I keep coming back to blogs where the person speaks as if they are someone i know and can relate to. They share topics i also am interested in and just make me want to see what is new! I like to see what they are being creative with..yarn, repurposing, cooking etc...is fun!

Congrats on 200 posts. Great prizes - fun contest.

I am a lurker and the blogs I lurk at are the ones with good photos and regular posts. If I come back week after week and nothing has changed, I stop coming. Your blog (which I lurk around) is chock full of photos which I love.

EJ sent me over.

I'm purple on Ravelry.

Congratulations for 200!!!

Before I forget: Chan sent me! Brownie points for her!!

Great question... I think what keeps me coming back to a blog is interesting posts (very subjective I know)... but also when I leave comments, and then the person comes back to my blog and comments, you kinda build up a blog-friendship. That's a great feeling!

Shirley said...

I basically come back to a blog if I find it interesting or it is on a topic that I want to know more about.

Aunt Kathy said...

I found your blog from a link on Turtle's blog.

I just love blog hopping and reading. I love funny stories, great pictures, new pattern ideas and heck I just love blogs. It makes me happy to know others read mine and I hope others are glad to know I read theirs too.

I'll be visiting again now that I have found you. LOL

Oh and I have linked your contest on my blog as well.

I love the fourth place blue yarn, the pins, and especially the necklace! Such a handy, subtle thing!

Congratulations on 200 posts!

What keeps me coming back varies a bit depending on the time of year. In the summer, when I'm watching bandwidth usage and sometimes don't allow all the pictures to load, I'm looking for interesting and well-written posts. In the winter I also like good pictures.

Anonymous said...

I love blogs about knitting with lots of photos (like yours) and those are the ones I visit. I rarely comment - I'm mostly just enjoy reading and looking.

Love your prizes - the cable needle necklace is fab.

I found out about your contest from purple-power who is in my knitting group.

I return to blogs and add them to my blog list if they have a lot of photos, mostly of knitting, but also pets and travel. I like positive, educational blogs, and usually leave negative blogs quickly. The more knitting the better.

Hi, Darcy,

You know I just "met" you, but I keep coming back to your blog for two reasons:
1. You have such a great attitude about life. There are, unfortunately, people on the Internet who like to be mean because they think it's cool or simply because they can.
2. I love seeing what you've been working on.

Boy, I'd love that Malabrigo...

What keeps me coming back to a blog? A mixture of (interesting) knitting content, humor, humility on the part of the blogger paired with a generosity re. the talents of people the blogger knows, plus the ability to get me to re-think things in a new way.

Quinn said...

What keeps me coming back to a blog is the feeling that the blogger is someone I would like to know :)
Regular posts, nice photos, new ideas or information are all good.
an occasional drawing for lovely prizes doesn't hurt, either! ;)

I keep coming back to blogs to see what people are knitting --to get ideas for my own knitting. I like to see what yarn they are using and hear whether they liked it or not or what modifications they did to a patterm. I also just like to read some of the stories people have to tell about their life.

Jeannine said...

I love checking in to see what you are knitting and what is going on in our area. I am always amazed at bloggers...how they are so organized in their thoughts and have the time to get all this great info up for everyone to enjoy. I am really impressed. I wish I had the time to do it. It is really enjoyable to peek into another knitter's world. Keep up the good work!

I keep coming back and checking out your blog, because I love to pop in and see what people in the knitting world are up to. I am always so amazed at bloggers and how they can get so many of their thoughts, ideas, projects up on their blog and knit, too! I wish I was as organized as all you bloggers. I can't even find enough time to knit. I wish I could do both. It is really fun to read knitting blogs. Keep up the good work!

I come back to blogs that post about their knitting, of course, but also about their lives. Like trips, work stuff, family, etc. I'm nosey like that. I also love to see their yarn purchases!

Dove Knits said...

The absolute main thing that draws me to a blog is the pictures. I gotta have crisp, clear pictures, taken in natural daylight. Bonus points if you're creative at how you take the pictures, but not necessary. A wide variety of projects is good, too -- I've quit reading perfectly good blogs because they just knit sock after sock.

I just found your blog, but so far, I like it, and am going to go read more!

And I found you through wiknit.blogspot.com

Congratulations on your 200th post and thanks for a fun contest! I tend to focus on detailed knitting content - I love seeing HOW other knitters do what they do. In contrast with Ravelry, which lets me see WHAT other knitters are doing, but isn't well suited to commentary.

Anonymous said...

I heard about your blog on Ravelry while I was looking through the knitting blog post.

Happy Blog Birthday!!! These things are worth celebrating, they only happen once a year!

I think what makes people come back to blogs are interesting pictures. Something worth being said. And just the general personality of the writer. I tend to read more upbeat blogs. If someone is a downer a lot of the time (sometimes is ok!) then its just not as fun or interesting. I also like it when craft blogs have actual craft blogging on them. Fortunately for me my blog is dog and craft so I can get away with my second dog post for the week. Ooops...I don't know where the time went or tonight.

PS I love the pumpkin yarn! You can tell her I said so too if you like.

I also like to look at what people are doing who are in the same area as I am; the internet is a good tool for linking into a local community as well as being part of a gigantic one.

You've got great prizes!

I return to a blog for no good reason! Sometimes it's because it makes me laugh. Sometimes it's because we are at the same stage in life (grade-school aged kids, etc); sometimes it's for a beautiful knit that I can't wait to see finished. Sometimes it's because I yearn to knit something, but feel not ready (lace!!)...and I can live vicariously through somebody else's blog.
Mostly, though, it's camaraderie and friendship. I live in a really rural place, with only one other part time knitter, and this is my way to connect with other knitters.

When I find a great blog, I bookmark it and return for INSPIRATION. There are soooo many wonderful knitters out there! It just makes me want to pick up my needles and knit, knit, knit. I have also learned how to RELAX and enjoy knitting. (not when I am frogging, tho. sheesh) Have a lovely day ladies. Cindy Cshell

I guess it's a bit nebulous what brings me back to blogs. I like pictures, for sure, but I also like when the blogger talks at least a little about their personal life so you get to 'know' them better!

I just had my 200th post today, too :)

Well congrats on your 200th post! You have almost as many commentors to this contest, too.

I came over from Ina's blog (jerseyknitter151). I keep coming back to a blog at first simply because it makes me laugh. I like getting to know the person through a shared craft too. In the end I stick with a blogger when I make a connection with them like in mutual inspiration/help etc. Reading a blog is a lot like voyerism...only not perverted. :)

Congrats on your 200th blog post, Darcy! I've read your blog on and off for a little while now. I confess to being an inconsistent blog reader & writer. Even so, I keep coming back to blogs that leave me feeling better for having been there. I need warm fuzzies, inspiration, connection--all the things that are integral to knitting in my world. Free things are nice, but it's the soul of the person, the beauty of their work, the lessons learned from their experience, the simple goodness that comes shining through in my favorite blogs. Keep the light shining girl!!!

I love to read your blog ( congrats on #200!!!!)because of the photos, you update regularly, and I feel we have similar styles and backgrounds. And hey, being a part of Ravelry and then finding your blog is just super cool! Going to put your contest inmy blog and link back too1 Great idea to get others into your blog!

I just found you! So many blogs, so little knitting time....I like to read about what everyone is working on. Their enthusiasm is contagious. I love to know that I am not the only one that swooooooons over yarn and patterns. It's a great way to share.

congrats on the 200th post!
I think it's a combination between pictures and actual post content that keeps me coming back

What keeps me coming back to a blog is something that interests me. A spark of creativity, things we may have in common., awe of someone's talent. Basicly it is something that catches my eye and keeps me coming back for more of the same.

Ooops... My blog URL was wrong in my last post. The correct one is here: http://www.mustnekarmah.com Sorry about that.

Hi! Any combination of things keeps me coming back to a certain blog. Nice photography, humour, fiber shots, humour, you get the hint! And I like food stuff, too. Food and Fiber - The 2 F's!!

Hi - what keeps me coming back to a site would be Pictures...lots of pictures, then everything else like funny posts, technique tips, etc. All those prize look fantastic especially that Big Pin (my fav). The Cable Needle Necklace are realy cool but I dont use cable needles...They would make realy cool earnings if they were a bit smaller though.

Thanks for the contest...I'm OhAmy on Ravelry...

I love to visit blogs that are not pessimestic... not to say that I only want to hear only about knitting triumphs and days of sunshine, but relentless whining can be a downer. Humor is great too! My blot is located at www.heideho.wordpress.com and I'll be linking to your contest. Cheers!

What great prizes you are offering! You must certainly know a bunch of folks I don't because I don't have those kinds of connections!

I keep going back to read blogs that post pictures on a regular basis. I love to read about everyone's knitting/stamping/life adventures but I can't get excited about it without a picture or 2. Reading so many blogs is where I get inspiration for some "must have" items on my to do list.

I'm visually driven. I like blogs that have lots of pictures and it doesn't have to be all knitting content. I like gardening, cooking and sewing and will read those type of blogs if they pique my interest or have similar interests as mine.

Some weekends I just surf and check out blogs that are new to me. I'm not hung up on the popular blogs at all. I like to see what non-superstars like myself are doing.

I like blogs with contests! And I love to see what others are knitting to be inspired. I came over from Heide's blog, Serendipitious Opportuknitty!

I came over from Heide's blog (Serendipitous Opportuknitty). Congratulations on your anniversary (blogiversary).

What keeps me coming back to a blog is humour and cats. Lots of both.

And if I get to know the author via comments and replies.

I just found your blog. I was visiting Heidi's blog and saw this about your contest so I thought that I would stop by. I really like your blog, it looks fun what I have seen so far. I like to visit blogs that updated often (unlike mine) and that have things that I am interested in.
Congrats on the 200th post!

Congratulations!
I come back to a blog when the knitter's projects intrigue me, when the colors that she uses intrigue me, when she's funny, when she's smart...

I like to read blogs because I get lots of knitting ideas and inspiration from fellow knitters. Except for my blogmate, and other close knitting friend, whom I don't see too often, there are no other knitters close to me.

Blogs and Ravelry allow me to connect with other knitters, and see I'm not the only one going crazy over certain patterns or yarns! Knitting blogs are a great big sisterhood and circle of friends.

I'll post about your contest in a few moments on my blog.

I like pictures, helpful hints, the history of a project, cool things discovered that are new to me, humor, lack of vulgarity, getting to know the person, not just the knitting...thanks for asking-this is a great contest!

Congrats on your 200th post. I've popped over from Chan Knits.
I return to blogs that feature humor, cats, knitting and crochet projects.

Congrats on your 200th post!
Jenny Girl, my blog partner sent me over.
My favorite blogs all have a few things in common... frequent posts, great pictures and details about the knitting projects and most of all a knitter with a great sense of humor who I can get a real sense of as a person.

Hi! Two Crazy Knit Chicks sent me over. I will have to say that I love to read blogs for all of the inspiration I find. Things maybe that I never even knew about. It also jump starts my own creativity. Blogs are like a little creative Oasis in a busy hectic day.

I come back to read blogs that make me laugh, inspire my knitting or just make me look at something in a different way. Congrats on your 200th post!

Happy 200th!! Wow you have some amazing donations there!! I'll definitely have to go visit Leslie's website -- those are gorgeous!!!

I come back to blogs that interest me, inspire me, enlighten me. I like a good mix of pictures and talking... I enjoy short paragraphs (because of the internet style of reading) ... I really enjoy a good layout/design (but it's starting to matter less with my RSS feed reader).

I love to learn about a person, their daily encounters, their thoughts and feelings. I love seeing things they are sharing -- books, yarn, jewellery, great thrift store finds... that sort of thing. The content is really great.

I also love when you can find someone who takes an interest in your blog -- and you both end up becoming blog-buddies.

P.S. Chan sent me!!
