First Stop On Book Signing Tour For Knit Two Author Kate Jacobs

Please pour yourself a cup of your favorite beverage, which for me this time of year is Starbucks Christmas blend and a biscotti, and settle in for a story.....

It all started Febuary 2007 when living in Idaho we got orders to move to California's Mojave Desert. .A week after arriving at our new base I found out there was going to be a book signing for Author Kate Jacobs book The Friday Night Knitting Club. The book signing was going to be in Studio City,California.I had never driven in California and the state I had lived in for 29 years had one four lane freeway going through the entire state. My hubby was understandably concerned!

This would be my first adventure in California and my very first book signing, so I printed off directions from map quest and went for it.I found myself in rush hour traffic, pretty scary the first time you see it. I made it to the yarn shop La Knitterie Parisienne.(The first picture in this post is of that first book signing)

to my surprise I found out that there would be a sequal: Knit Two came out November 25 2008 so I checked Kates tour schedule and her first stop on the tour would be Encino,California at The Barnes & Noble.

I called and reserved my copies one for each of my bff's and one for myself. This time I was prepared my hubby bought Magellan so he programed the destination and she directed me to the book signing for Knit Two:)

I also bought Kates book Comfort Food.Kates books are a wonderful read from beginning to end.
You feel as though you are there experiencing everything with her characters, you can connect with and relate to their struggles and triumphs!
Kate is warm and personable I was so comfortable talking with her it was an enjoyable evening.I ate at a lovely little resteraunt by the book store called Rosti they serve delicious tuscan home cooking totally worth the trip to Encino,California.

I think all the best authors must come from Canada.
See you in the comments:)

What a fun story. We never seem to have any interesting book signings within reasonably close driving distance to my house so I am envious :).

Darcy, That is awesome. Thank you for letting me be your travel companion for at least part of the trip even though we lost our signal through the mountains LOL I love all the pictures and your beautiful wrap you wore. What a wonderful adventurer you are, far cry from the insecure Idaho girl. :)
Hugs

I'm totally in awe of the button selection at La Kniterria!

Horray for conquering the LA freeways ~ you will be referring to them like the locals soon i.e. "The 5" etc.

Enjoy the dessert - it is a very beautiful place to live.

"I found myself in rush hour traffic, pretty scary the first time you see it."

No kidding, talk about a trial by fire! I've only had experience with rush hours in the big cities on the West Coast, but L.A. is the worst of them. Sheer madness. But definitely an important cultural experience. ;)

I'll have to check her out, sounds lovely!

What a fun story - I've been wanting to go to a book signing like that, but haven't lived close enough. It sounds like a great time!

That's fun! I worked in a bookstore for a year, and really enjoyed meeting the authors. I need to plan to go to more signings...I've been lazy lately!

Sounds like you had a wonderful day - I've only gone to book signings by kid's authors - never one by someone I'm interested it. Soon

Hey Darcy,
I can't wait until we can go on an adventure together in real time. Your dinner looks great. Can we split a dessert?

Thanks for stopping by! I like to meet authors most of the time, and get a face and voice to put with the "voice" of the book! Thanks for stopping by my blog!
